DIRECTIONS FROM MEET HOST/DIRECTOR - EAST BURKE HIGH SCHOOL
1-  Seating inside the pool: There will be areas inside the pool marked for each team. Please adhere to these areas, as we are trying to accommodate a good number of swimmers while also keeping room for spectators. Please keep your areas clean as we are guests of the Valdese Recreation Department.
Only coaches will be allowed on the peninsula. Any swimmers may certainly come and speak to their coaches, but please ask them not to stay unless they are assisting you with something. Please try to help us keep the block area clear of anyone except swimmers about to swim, coaches, and volunteers.
2-  Timing/ Officials/ Volunteers: Please submit a couple of names of volunteers to me with your entries so I can go ahead and have timers squared away before we start and don't have to delay. If we all pitch in, there shouldn't be any shortage of workers. Any officials you have, please have them email me so we can be sure to get them paid.
3-   Warm-ups: We will have general warm-ups in all 10 lanes from 5-5:30. At 5:30, lanes 1,2,9,10 will remain circle swim lanes, while 3-8 will be used for starts. The pool will close at 5:45 to allow for a timers meeting and a coaches and captain's meeting. During the meet, lane 9 will be closed and lane 10 will be available for warm-up and cool down.
4-  Timing System: We will be using push buttons for our timing system without the pads. If you want to record splits, please have someone to record them on deck. Timer sheets will be used for back-up times.
5-  Results/Scoring: We will be scoring the meet to 16 places, with double for each relay. Each team will be able to score two swimmers and two relays. In the event you have multiple conference members participating, dual scores can be compiled from results at the end of the meet (I will be happy to do this for SMAC teams, if desired).
6-  Meet Mobile: The meet will be available on Meet Mobile and can be found by searching for "Valdese" in the meet search.
7-  Heat Sheets: We will email heat sheets prior to the beginning of the meet and provide 2 printed heat sheets per team once we are sure of all individual entries.
8-  Concessions: The Concession stand will be open during the meet. They have a variety of items for great prices. Please encourage swimmers or parents to visit our concession stand

Details for State Championships

1A/2A 2015 NCHSAA State Swimming Championship
TEAM RULES
  • Our Captains for this meet are for the men Mitchell Harwood & and for our women Sophia Bhalla, Christina Lappin. Captains are an extension of the coaching staff. If they ask you to do something, listen. These individuals were picked because of maturity, common sense and dedication to the program. They will not lead you in the wrong way.  They are also experienced in swimming and competing in high school.  They know the rules!
  • We will follow the itinerary. I have set a schedule for us to keep.  We are creatures of habit and structure will assure a smooth trip and meet.
  • Alternates will be expected to keep the same schedule as the rest of the automatic qualifiers. Your position is of utmost importance.  If something happens you are the go to people. Take that seriously.
  • Lights out means lights out! Friday will be a LONG day physically and emotionally.
  • After lights out men and women swimmers are to stay in their assigned rooms.  No one is allowed in others rooms at this point or any other floors of the hotel. You will know the coaches room numbers and can call if you need us for anything.  It may be a good idea for some of you to stay in your parents rooms so you will stay out of trouble and get rest.    If this becomes a problem I will personally drive you back to LCS and drive back to the meet without you OR I will place you in your parents or a coaches room.
  • Remember this is not a vacation/party trip. We are here focused and with a goal in mind. Keep each other accountable.
  • Absolutely no flirting or hanging out with opposite sex from other teams.  They are here to compete as well and do not need added distractions.
  • Hydrate and fuel your body properly. No junk on this trip.
  • Stay positive and uplift all team members, alternate or automatic qualifier.
  • Follow all rules of the TAC while we are there. Remember cheer for your team and not against the other teams.
  • This meet is about LCS swimming. Let’s keep our focus on that.  While we are at states that is our primary focus and the most important thing at that time.
  • Stick to your warm up warm down schedule. If it is given to you by me, your club coach or what you are used to doing. Follow the meet so you know when to be ready. All the little things add up to big things!
  • Remember to do all shaving at hotel. No shaving is allowed at the TAC.
  • No  deck changing
  • No  Jewelry
  • Room assignments, special accommodations will be made and approved by coaching staff
