New Website for Swimming & Diving

I am switching over to a Weebly website that I am still in the process of creating for swimming & diving.

I will keep this blogger active but will no longer be using it for communication for swimming & diving.

I am still working on finishing up the new website but there is a lot of information on there already that will help you to get your season started off on the right foot.

Here is the new website

State T-shirts for Parents

Parents, Swimmers & Divers-

We are taking sizes for PARENTS that want an LCS team specific t-shirt for states.  The shirt will have the kids and coaches name on the back.  If you are new this is something we do every year and offer to the parents as well.  This is the shirt the kids are getting that I have sizes for already.

It will be a navy t-shirt with white lettering this year.

If you are interested please send me the sizes you would like by 3:00 P.M. TODAY I have to get this order in ASAP in order to have it before we leave.

1A/2A State Championship volunteer signup...

Coaches and AD's,

My name is Bill Padgett.  I am the coach of the Durham School of the Arts Swimming and Diving team, and a co-host of the state championship meet along with Carrboro High School.

I look forward to seeing each of your teams competing this week in the 2018 1A/2A Swimming and Diving State Championship!  A lot of hard work has gone into getting the students prepared for the final meet.  Good Luck!!

Below is a link to the volunteer signup page for the championship meet.  Please distribute it to your parents.  As you know, there are two sessions for this meet, an AM preliminary session and a PM finals session. Any parent that volunteers will avoid paying the entrance fee for that session and will be able to enjoy the hospitality room!  Why not volunteer for both sessions!!

Sign-up Genius link for States Volunteers
If you have questions concerning the volunteer signup, my parent rep Lina Hight is copied on this email.

Also, please ask your parents to have smaller bills (1's and 5"s) for paying entrance fees($6/session or $9 for day pass) and for purchasing heat sheet ($4 per session)!  This will allow for the lines to move much smoother and get everyone in and ready to cheer.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bill Padgett

1A/2A 2018 NCHSAA State Swimming Championship TEAM RULES / ITINERARY

1A/2A 2018 NCHSAA State Swimming Championship
TEAM RULES
  • Our Captains for this meet are for the men Grant Swicegood & Jackson Law and for our women Elizabeth Walter. Captains are an extension of the coaching staff. If they ask you to do something, listen. These individuals were picked because of maturity, common sense and dedication to the program. They will not lead you in the wrong way.  They are also experienced in swimming and competing in high school.  They know the rules!
  • We will follow the itinerary. We have set a schedule for us to keep. We are creatures of habit and structure will assure a smooth trip and meet.
  • Alternates will be expected to keep the same schedule as the rest of the automatic qualifiers. Your position is of utmost importance.  If something happens you are the go to people. Take that seriously.
  • Lights out means lights out! Thursday will be a LONG day physically and emotionally.
  • After lights out men and women swimmers are to stay in their assigned rooms.  No one is allowed in others rooms at this point or any other floors of the hotel. You will know the coaches room numbers and can call if you need us for anything.  It may be a good idea for some of you to stay in your parents rooms so you will stay out of trouble and get rest.    If this becomes a problem I will personally drive you back to LCS and drive back to the meet without you OR I will place you in your parents or a coaches room.
  • Remember this is not a vacation/party trip. We are here focused and with a goal in mind. Keep each other accountable.
  • Absolutely no flirting or hanging out with opposite sex from other teams.  They are here to compete as well and do not need added distractions.
  • Hydrate and fuel your body properly. No junk on this trip.
  • Stay positive and uplift all team members, alternate or automatic qualifier.
  • Follow all rules of the TAC while we are there. Remember cheer for your team and not against the other teams.
  • This meet is about LCS swimming. Let’s keep our focus on that.  While we are at states that is our primary focus and the most important thing at that time.
  • Stick to your warm up warm down schedule. If it is given to you by me, your club coach or what you are use to doing. Follow the meet so you know when to be ready. All the little things add up to big things!
  • Remember to do all shaving at hotel. No shaving is allowed at the TAC.
  • No deck change allowed
  • Room assignments, special accommodations will be made and approved by coaching staff
